At Medica, we believe that a truly inclusive workplace is one where all employees are supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. We understand that women face unique challenges in the workplace, and we are committed to creating policies and providing benefits that allow them to succeed both professionally and personally. This commitment is embedded in our culture, ensuring that women at Medica have the support they need through all stages of their lives and careers.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s a time to reflect on the policies we have in place that make a tangible difference in the lives of our female employees. From enhanced maternity benefits to a menopause-friendly workplace, flexible working arrangements, and career development opportunities, we are dedicated to ensuring that every woman at Medica has the resources and flexibility to excel.
Enhanced maternity pay and flexible working:
One of our standout initiatives is our enhanced maternity pay and flexible working policies. These allow employees to balance parenthood and their careers without added stress. Deborah Baker, our Radiology Administrator, shares her positive experience: “I’m grateful for Medica’s flexibility, allowing me to work reduced hours and balance my career with family commitments. It gives me the opportunity to stay committed to my professional growth while also being present for my family.”
Menopause policy:
This International Women’s Day, we are delighted to announce our partnership with The Menopause Hub; offering women medical support from menopause medical specialists to empower women to help them manage this natural phase of life with confidence, fostering a healthier, more inclusive workplace. We are also proud to offer our menopause policy, which is designed to raise awareness and provide support for employees experiencing the challenges of menopause. Nuala McCarthy, our HR Business Partner, emphasises the importance of this policy: “Menopause can be a challenging stage of life for women both in the workplace and in personal lives. It means a lot to me that Medica recognises this and is offering women impacted access to specialist practical medical expertise.”
Training and development:
At Medica, supporting the growth and development of all our employees is essential to creating an inclusive and equal workplace. On International Women’s Day, we highlight the opportunities available for women to advance in their careers. With targeted training programs, apprenticeships, and leadership pathways, we equip women with the skills and confidence needed to succeed. By empowering women to take on new challenges and progress within the company, Medica fosters a workforce where gender equality is prioritised.
EDI forum:
Our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) forum plays an essential role in fostering a culture that celebrates inclusivity and ensures every voice is heard. This forum allows us to promote open conversations about equality and helps us continually improve our policies to be more inclusive and responsive to the needs of our employees.
Women in leadership:
We’re also proud that half of our executive team is female, and we have an impressive record of female Managing Directors. This reflects Medica’s strong commitment to gender equality and diversity at all levels of the organisation. Having women in key leadership roles highlights our focus on creating equal opportunities for all, and helps set the standard for a balanced, inclusive workplace. Our diverse leadership plays a vital role in shaping the company’s direction and culture, ensuring we continue to prioritise diversity across the business.
We are constantly looking for new ways to support women in the workplace, whether through additional flexible working options, career development programs, or wellness initiatives. We are committed to maintaining an environment where everyone feels supported and can perform at their best, no matter their gender or background.
On this International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting women at Medica, helping them succeed and feel valued throughout their entire career journey.
