Throughout the month of November, Team Medica dusted off their walking boots and running shoes in aid of RefuAid. The team rose to the challenge of walking, running and cycling 2,600 miles, plus an additional 464 miles in one month!

While the time has come to relax our legs, we are hoping we can push our fundraising up to an incredible £7,000. If you are able to sponsor the team, not only are we grateful for your support, but Medica will match your donation. Please visit our JustGiving page.

Thank you to all our sponsors. Your generosity will make a huge difference.

Why we are supporting RefuAid

We live in a country where highly skilled healthcare staff, escaping conflict as refugees, are working in the UK in jobs outside of healthcare. Medica has teamed up with RefuAid to help unlock the potential of these refugees, who often have experience of conducting their profession in very difficult environments. Not only can we provide financial support and advice, but we also hope to leverage our network of clients and reporters to help radiologists and radiographers back into work within healthcare.

This year we are sponsoring Dr. Mohammed Jalaleddin, a refugee and radiologist from Syria. Dr. Mo is currently working towards his GMC registration with the ultimate goal of practicing as a Radiologist in the NHS.  Dr. Mo, from Latakia in Syria, moved to London in 2016 and was reunited with his wife and children who fled for safety in 2014. Dr. Mo obtained his primary Medical qualification in 2005 and worked in radiology between 2009 and 2012 when he was forced to stop working because of the war.

Since arriving in the UK he has successfully completed his PLAB Part One and is currently studying for PLAB Part Two. Medica and RefuAid are supporting Dr. Mo through this process.
