Medica is delighted to announce that The Ultrasound Suite, one of Ireland’s longest‑established private ultrasound providers, has officially joined the Medica Group.
The move brings together The Ultrasound Suite’s trusted, patient-facing services with Medica’s high-quality reporting, governance frameworks, and national diagnostic infrastructure, marking a major step forward in improving access to ultrasound care across Ireland.
The Ultrasound Suite provides obstetric and general ultrasound services across Dublin, Wexford, and Wicklow, performing over 7,000 scans annually. It is widely recognised for its ethos of safe, clinician-led care, closely aligned with Medica’s own clinical values and standards. The organisation has also been a long‑standing Medica partner, with Medica providing high‑quality reporting support since 2011.
This acquisition will enable Medica to significantly expand ultrasound capacity, reduce waiting times, and increase appointment availability across Leinster and surrounding regions. By combining The Ultrasound Suite’s established clinic network with Medica’s national reporting scale and diagnostic expertise, patients, GPs, and hospital partners will benefit from faster access to essential diagnostic and obstetric scanning services, while The Ultrasound Suite’s proven clinical approach continues unchanged.
Patients can also expect continuity in their experience, the same clinicians, in the same locations, using the same referral routes, now strengthened by Medica’s national network and long‑term investment capability. Non-invasive prenatal screening (NIPS) services will be launched imminently at these locations, further strengthening the obstetric offering.
Speaking about the announcement, Caroline Byrne, Managing Director at Medica, said: “This is fundamentally about strengthening patient care. By welcoming The Ultrasound Suite into Medica, we can expand capacity, accelerate access to appointments, and maintain the local, clinician‑led care that patients and GPs value, now supported by Medica’s high-quality reporting and robust governance.
“Together we will deliver faster access, consistent quality, and a more joined‑up experience across Ireland.”
As part of the integration, Deborah Sudding, Clinical Specialist Sonographer and Director at The Ultrasound Suite, will join Medica as Head of Obstetrics, where she will guide the continued growth of obstetric ultrasound services nationally.
Commenting on the acquisition, Sudding said: “We’re excited to join forces with Medica. Patients will continue to see the same trusted teams in the same locations, with the added benefit of Medica’s scale and stability.
“This partnership allows us to reduce waiting times, broaden appointment availability, and enhance resilience, without compromising the quality and kindness that define our care.”
Medica will now begin a structured, phased integration programme designed to bring together systems, teams, and best practices while ensuring services remain safe and fully operational.
All existing referral and reporting arrangements will continue as normal. This partnership reflects Medica’s ongoing commitment to providing faster, safer, and more accessible ultrasound diagnostics, while preserving the local expertise and trusted relationships that patients, GPs, and partners rely on.
